Ace Grading & Paving is a family-owned business specializing in excavation, grading, utility installation, and paving. Our crews are seasoned pros who care about their craft and your project. Dave Rubins
Founder & Operations Manager
Dave has lived in the Reno-Tahoe area for his entire adult life. He loves the surrounding beauty and the activities that Northern Nevada provides. He has worked in the Nevada construction industry since his teenage years, and at Ace Grading & Paving since day one in 2003. Dave intimately knows the Northern Nevada area its people. He is very skilled in the nuances of successfully completing projects in various areas of Northern Nevada. With an unmatched understanding of local conditions and construction challenges, Dave’s leadership and personal value has been a steady force behind Ace’s long-term growth and success.
Mike Protani
Owner and Business Manager
Mike has lived in Nevada since 1988 and brings a global resume to the team with experience managing large-scale mining operations across the world. With an engineering degree and deep experience in logistics, estimating, and project management, he joined Ace in April 2022. Mike’s business acumen and hands-on approach have been a major asset in driving efficiency and value for clients.
Tom Rubins
Foreman
A Nevada native and a field expert, Tom joined Ace in 2018. His skills as an equipment operator and excavator are top tier. As of April 2022, he stepped into a supervisory role, where he continues to lead by example, ensuring projects are completed to Ace’s high standards.
Victor Mata
Foreman
Victor has been with Ace Grading & Paving since its founding in 2003 and is one of the most experienced and trusted supervisors in the company. Over the years, Victor has worked side-by-side with Dave on many of Ace’s most complex and demanding projects. His field expertise spans the full scope of site development. Victor is known for his sharp eye for detail, calm leadership in the field, and commitment to delivering quality work on every job.
